Leader Magazine
DECEMBER 1960.
SAILING CLUB NOTES.
At the beginning of term, the club managed to get in about three weeks sailing in our four completed boats at Aberdovey, before we were forced by the dark evenings to finish the sailing season. The last race of the season on September 22nd. Proved the most exciting the club has had. There was a good breeze, and with three reefs in the mainsail, the four dinghies were proving quite a handful to their helmsmen. A fine race was won by J/Pte Waring (C), with J/Tpr Gallacher (A) second, J/Tpr Gibson (A) third, and J/Pte Taylor (C) chasing them home.
We have now moved the club to a much better building, between the drill sheds and the ration store. Club members have much work to do over the winter. Besides building five more dinghies, we have a lot of maintainance work to do to prepare this season's dinghies for next April, when we hope to start sailing again.
