Leader Magazine
JULY 1961.
'C' COMPANY NOTES.
Last term saw the departure of Captain Young, who returned to his Regiment, and the arrival of Captain Cormack from 'A' Company.
This term the Company has been doing well in both Cricket and Athletics. Four members of the Company regularly play for the Regimental 1st XI, and several others do Cricket as a hobby. Our athletes have done well also. J/L/Cpl. Byrne has once again won the mile event, in the Army Junior Championships at Aldershot.
The Army Outward Bound School, Tony Mason of the Ogwen Cottage Mountain School, and Chris Briggs of the Pen-y-Gwyrd Hotel have been presented with inscribed Regimental Shields, in grateful thanks for their splendid work in rescuing J/Cpl. McCubbin. We are very pleased that J/Cpl. McCubbin has recovered so well, but most unfortunately he has been medically down-graded.
We had a successful camp at Menai Bridge, and once again were fed royally by S/Sgt. Raine and his staff.
We have heard news of two past members of the Company. J/Pte. Anderson, Intelligence Corps, has successfully completed his first course, which took him to Metz in France. J/Sig. Rushton is now one of a trainee squad which provided communications at the Dunlop Golf Tournament at Nottingham.
Sgt. Chitticks has now finally (we hope) returned to 'C' Company, having been in every single Company in the Regiment. At the end of this term Capt Cormack and 2/Lt. Paige, whose platoon will be commanded by 2/Lt. Askew, leave us. Sgt. Hobday also leaves and Sgt. Hope will be Platoon Sergeant.
