JULY 1961. |
POETRY CORNER. |
by Dai Druid. |
Tonfanau Roll-call |
Here you see on every side, |
A varied band, with interests wide. |
Come and scan a colourful sight: |
GRAY, BROWN, BLACKIE, GREEN and WHYTE. |
At the tradesmen take a look: |
PRIEST and BARBER, SHEPHERD, COOKE. |
To the hostile name of BOSS |
Add SAVAGE, SLAUGHTER, WILDE and CROSS. |
Here you may even cry for a MOON, |
Storm a FORT, or crave a BOON, |
Find HALE is hearty, TRIM sounds neat, |
While others are even OLD and BEET. |
Some less formal are, in truth, |
Meet GEORGE and DONALD, CLIFF and RUTH. |
And sad, the last thought, ten years on, |
Aged will be NEWCOME, WENT will be gone. |
