A general view of part of the Exhibition.
The Army Art and Crafts Exhibition is an annual event, organised by the Institute of Army Education. This year's Exhibition was held in central London, and attracted work from adult and junior soldiers serving in the home commands, and from children in Army schools at home and abroad. Some idea of the keenness of the competition can be got from the number of entries which was approximately 120 from this unit alone.
The Exhibition provides a target for many of the hobbies which operate within the Regiment, and this year our efforts met with success. Units compete for the Senior and Junior awards, and we were successful in winning the Junior Challenge Shield. All our entries contributed to this, and some of them also won individual awards. These were:
Class B  Painting First Prize J/Tpr. Plowright, 'D' Coy.
Class C Drawing Second Prize J/Cpl. Howarth, 'B' Coy.
Class D Model Boat First Prize J/Pte. Barber, 'B' Coy.
Class N Leatherwork  Highly Commended  J/Pte. Nobes, 'D' Coy.
In the Adult section, the work of Major Barrow, OC 'B' Company, was Highly Commended in Class A Oil Painting. The judges reported that the work exhibited was of a very high standard, and the Institute of Army Education has thanked all those who entered.
