Leader Magazine
SUMMER 1964.
EDITORIAL.
In compiling this second annual edition of our regimental magazine we have tried to combine a record of the past year in the unit with references to the much longer traditions of the British Army itself, and we are greatly indebted to all our contributors for their labours to this end.
In a year which marks the fiftieth anniversary of the outbreak of the first world war, Captain Hardy's article seems particularly appropriate, illustrated as it is with hitherto unpublished photographs, while Mr. Krell can hardly have realised when he undertook the platoon battle honours article that this would entail writing what is virtually a pocket history of the army's campaigns over two centuries. Knowing that books about war are always the most frequently issued from our unit library, we feel sure that these excellent articles will commend themselves to our readers.
In lighter vein, we are particularly grateful for the contributions of "Sprig" a pseudonym which no longer, since our last edition, serves to veil the identity of Captain Stitt: our other talented artist, Major Barrow, makes his valedictory contribution with a study of some local flora and fauna. About the other article of Welsh interest, from the sage of Cader Idris, we preserve a discreet silence!
We would like more writing from Junior Leaders, particularly if it is up to the standard set here by J/Sgt. Burnett, who obviously does not share your editor's passion for internal combustion engines!
To the industrious writers of company notes and to all our advertisers, local and national, we offer also our thanks, in the hope that the latter will receive from our readers the support their generosity merits. If our magazine serves to interest and on occasion also to amuse, then all who had a hand in its preparation will feel themselves well rewarded.
Editor: Capt. G. Millington, R.A.E.C.
Assistant Editor : Lt. D.M. Peters, R.A.E.C.
