Pull Up A Sandbag
Sandbag Reminiscences of Joel Burnett Sandbag
A Yank Abroad
I remember Major Jackson, Lt. Wilkinson who insisted I call him 'Lootenant' when we were out of earshot. I also remember Sgt. 'Ozzie' Osborne who was our weapons instructor and rapelling coach. It was said that he could climb a sheet of glass.
Of the guys I remember Jeff Tidiman, Dave Porter, like myself signalmen. Bellamy and Brindley were armour I believe and Dollery from Liverpool and Chuck Townley from Manchester by way of Stockton, California, U.S.A. were artillery. 'Dollo' and I both played guitar and entertained with skiffle and early rock music at the camp rec hall and the movie house at the camp show.
