Take 1331: Filming at Bird Rock |
It has long been the intention of the War Office to make a film, to be shown to schools and youth clubs with the object of interesting young people in the possibilities of an Army career. |
To do this, Mr. Gerard Bryant was asked to write a script and direct the film called "Follow My Lead". He set the action "somewhere in the jungle" with a small patrol chasing a group of the enemy. The patrol was led by a young corporal, who had been a Junior Leader, and as situation after situation presented themselves to him, his mind flashed back to his own training as a Junior Leader. |
This is where we came in. In January, the Anvil Film Company descended on us for ten hectic days. Mr. Bryant, technically assisted by Captain Carrad and followed by a band of technicians and would be film stars, toured the Camp filming Wing training, Education, Hobbies and the general life of the Camp. As the cameras whirred, everyone tried to look intelligent and pretended to know what they were doing. They were assisted in this by Sgt. Parry who did an excellent job of administration throughout. |
There was an expedition to the rock faces of Snowdon with the Outward Bound School and, though the sun tended to let us down at the vital moment on several occasions, at the end of ten days everything was 'in the can' and away went Anvil Films. |
All those concerned in making the film, prominent amongst whom was J/L/Cpl. Mate of 'B' Company, are eagerly waiting to see the result of their efforts. Interest aroused throughout the camp was considerable and "Follow My Lead" is assured of a good audience when it is finally shown here. |
